About 3DBuildX and DesignerX

Last updated October 30, 2026

3DBuildX is a 3D printing studio at 55 Dickson St, Unit 101, in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada. We make custom 3D prints, nameplates, keychains and signs, offer design and modelling help, sell filament and printers, and run hands-on workshops. DesignerX is our free, browser-based 3D design studio: you design an item on screen, then export a file to print on your own printer or bring to ours.

What is DesignerX?

DesignerX lets you compose text, SVG artwork, QR codes and shapes into a printable 3D model without installing any software. You can export 3 file formats — STL, 3MF (with colours) and OBJ — that open in popular slicers such as Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer and PrusaSlicer.

  • Nameplates, keychains and tags — pick a plate shape, add text and a font, borders, bevels and optional magnet or NFC pockets.
  • Review plates — a tabletop sign that prints as two separate pieces, a face and a stand.
  • QR codes — link to a website, Wi-Fi network or contact card.
  • Lithophanes — turn a photo into a backlit panel.
  • Saved designs — create a free account to keep your designs and reopen them later.

Who is behind DesignerX?

The founder of 3DBuildX is a software engineer with 15 years of experience in IT and 8 years of hands-on experience in 3D printing and CAD design. That mix of15 years in software and 8 years at the printer is why DesignerX focuses on prints that work the first time.
