What you can design

A case in the shape of your art

Hearts, stars, your SVG or PNG — the outline of your artwork becomes the case.

11 mesh patterns

Honeycomb, round, square, diamond, triangles, slots, bricks, crosses, stars, hearts and bubbles, with adjustable hole size and angle.

Heat-formed domes

Print the mesh flat and thin, warm it, and press it between a printed cup and plug to raise a dome.

Closes without extra parts

A snap edge clicks the halves together, or choose a bolt and cap with a key-ring loop. An optional hanging ear takes a cord.

Print-ready pieces

Front, back, cap and tools are laid out flat for printing, without supports.

Make a mesh box

  1. Create a free DesignerX account and open the Mesh Box studio.
  2. Choose a shape, or upload an SVG or PNG.
  3. Pick a mesh pattern and hole size, and how the box closes.
  4. Set the depth of the forming tools, then export STL or 3MF.
  5. Print the pieces flat, warm the mesh, press it between the cup and plug, and fit the halves together.

Frequently asked questions

Are 3D printed boxes food safe?

Printed plastic is not certified food safe. Use the boxes for wrapped sweets, small gifts and keepsakes.

What do I need to make one?

An FDM printer and PETG or PLA. The mesh is printed thin so it stretches when warmed, and a heat gun warms it for forming.

Can 3DBuildX print it?

Yes. Contact us at info@3dbuildx.com or visit our shop in Cambridge, Ontario.

Is DesignerX free?
